Riyadh – Exclusive Sharikat Mubasher: Interviewed by Sharikat Mubasher, on the sidelines of the Supply Chain and Logistics Conference 2024, Mostafa Tawfik, Head of Commercial MCL - Maersk SAA at A.P. Moller – Maersk said that Maersk is one of the biggest companies specializing in ocean transport worldwide, equipped with huge fleet of ships and vessels.
Eight years ago, Tawfik continued, and the company altered its strategy to expand its services to integrate all means of logistics besides the main ocean transport, introducing the one-stop shop concept for all its clients.
Tawfik revealed that Maersk captures about 20% of global trade volume as it handles 20 containers out of every 100 in different seaports.
In Saudi Arabia, Maersk managed to penetrate the logistics field, providing a full pack of services in supply chain starting with shipping raw materials from the source in containers via ocean all the way to the final destination. In addition, the company handles custom clearance and owns bonded and non-bonded warehouses to handle all kinds of goods in seaports and terminals.
The Supply Chain and Logistics Conference 2024, held under the patronage of the Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, concluded Monday in Riyadh after two days of discussions, in attendance of esteemed ministers, senior officials, and company leaders from the supply chains and logistics services sector.
It also saw the participation of heads of authorities and institutions in promising fields from both the public and private sectors, aimed at enhancing the work of supply chains and logistics services.
The conference witnessed the signing of 91 agreements worth SAR 8.3 billion aimed at developing the operations and efficiency of supply chains.
