Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Japanese technology firm NTT is exploring the development of data centers in Saudi Arabia as part of its global strategy to capitalize on the region’s fast-growing artificial intelligence (AI) demand.

Abhijit Dubey, NTT Data CEO, told Bloomberg that the company sees a “supply-demand mismatch” between Saudi Arabia’s rapid digital ambitions and the country’s current data capacity, adding that his visit to Riyadh was driven by the “growing interest around AI.”

While NTT has not yet built or announced any confirmed data center projects in the Middle East, the company operates more than 150 facilities across 20 countries through its NTT Global Data Centers (GDC) unit.

NTT is planning to invest over $10 billion globally by 2027 to expand its data center network, a move that could soon include Saudi Arabia as the Kingdom accelerates its push to become a regional hub for digital innovation.
