Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (Modon) concluded two groundbreaking memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR), backed by the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), a recent statement revealed.
Under the agreements, both entities will work together to link the logistics zone in Dammam Second Industrial City to the railway network and to establish a passenger station in Sudair Industrial and Business City.
The MoUs were signed in a ceremony attended by Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef, Minister of Transport and Logistics Services Saleh Al-Jasser, and several senior officials at Modon and SAR.
The passenger station project will minimize travel duration between Riyadh and Sudair Industrial and Business City and will contribute to reducing traffic congestion, enhancing road safety, and preserving infrastructure.
Additionally, the project will lower carbon emissions compared to other land transportation patterns.
The second project targets linking Dammam Second Industrial City by rail to key ports, such as Dammam, Jubail, Ras Al-Khair, and Riyadh Dry Port.
The project will boost operational efficiency by providing fast, safe, and reliable rail transportation solutions.
It will further contribute to increasing Saudi exports and accessing global markets, in addition to reducing the carbon footprint related to other land-based transportation options.
