Dubai Digital Economy Chamber supported 215 digital startups in H1-24 with combined market value of $7 billion

Dubai - Sharikat Mubasher: Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, supported the establishment of 215 high-potential digital startups during the first half (H1) of 2024, marking a 212% increase compared to 69 companies in H1-23.

The combined market value of the 215 companies is estimated at around $7 billion, according to the chamber's press release.

During the first six months of 2024, the chamber trained 243 Emiratis as part of the ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ initiative and organized 12 international roadshows to promote Expand North Start, the annual technology event for startups and investors which will take place in Dubai next October.

Commenting on these achievements, Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, said: “We are strengthening our efforts to develop an ecosystem that promotes the growth of digital businesses, supports their expansion, and positions Dubai as the global capital of the digital economy.”

Al Olama, who is also the Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, affirmed that these achievements reflect the chamber’s efforts to realize the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda aiming to generate an average of AED 100 billion annually for the emirate’s economy through digital transformation projects.

Moreover, Al Olama emphasized the chamber’s commitment to enhancing the Emirate’s attractiveness for companies and entrepreneurs operating within all technology-related disciplines.

The Create Apps in Dubai initiative was launched to strengthen digital capabilities in the UAE, aiming to train 1,000 Emiratis in cooperation with the private sector. It targets doubling the number of application developers in Dubai by 2025 and supporting 100 new national projects for the development of leading-edge mobile applications.
