Turboden will build first ORC power plant in Riyadh to support to the Kingdom in its transition towards more sustainable energy sources

Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Turbodena, a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries group company and a global leader in Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) systems, is set to build the first ORC power plant in Saudi Arabia.

The 13MWe-plant will be established at Riyadh Cement Company and will position the Kingdom at the forefront of sustainable industrial practices, the company announced in a statement.

This landmark project represents a significant stride forward in the Kingdom’s pursuit of sustainable energy solutions and decarbonization and underscores Turbodena’s commitment to pioneering innovative technologies in the GCC markets.

The ORC technology will harness waste heat from clinker coolers and pre-heaters of the cement plant (2 kilns of 5,000 tons/day each) to offer unparalleled energy efficiency while eliminating water consumption.

Key technical features of the plant include its water-free operation, air-cooled condenser integrated, low OPEX, unmanned, and automatic operation.

Andrea La Gioia, General Manager of Turboden, affirmed the company’s dedication to supporting the Kingdom in its transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.

“With around 460 ORC plants in 52 countries, 50 in waste heat recovery application, our ORC technology represents a game-changer in the global energy landscape,” La Gioia added.

Moreover, Sinoma Energy Conservation serves as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company.
