Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The total number of points-of-sale (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia reached 2.6 billion during the third quarter (Q3) of 2024, with sales amounting to SAR 167.4 billion.
The monthly bulletin released by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed that the number of POS terminals rose to 1.89 million, compared to 1.80 in Q2-24.
The value of POS sales dropped in September to SAR 54.8 billion, opposite to SAR 58.5 billion in the previous month. Similarly, the number of POS transactions slid to 885.5 million in September from 899.2 million in August.
On the other side, the number of e-commerce transactions made through Mada cards hit 282.7 million in Q3-24, with sales amounting to SAR 51 billion.
The value of e-commerce sales processed through Mada cards slightly declined to SAR 17.4 billion in September although the number of transactions jumped to 98.2 million from 94.1 million in August.
