Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The Federation of Saudi Chambers launched the first national sustainability and green economy committee to integrate environmentally forward business practices and drive a green economy.
In a statement, the federation announced appointing Khaled Abdulrahman Al-Othman as the committee’s Chairman and Nouf Abdulaziz Al-Ghamdi as Vice Chairman.
Launching the new committee coincides with the fourth round of the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) that took place in the Saudi capital on 3 December to discuss and advance climate resilience and sustainability. Key themes included land restoration, clean energy innovation, climate finance, nature-based solutions, and biodiversity protection.
This year’s SGI Forum focused on fostering discussions and presenting solutions to key challenges, including land restoration, cutting carbon emissions through innovative technologies, financing sustainable transitions to support livelihoods, leveraging nature-based approaches for climate change adaptation, and safeguarding the Kingdom’s biodiversity.
