Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Abdullah Alswaha, Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology, emphasized the Kingdom’s influential role in driving global efforts to enhance innovation and harness artificial intelligence (AI) for the benefit of humanity.
Alswaha highlighted that Saudi Arabia plays a pivotal role in advancing the global agenda for digital economy development, innovation, and the application of AI for the benefit of humanity and the protection of the planet, according to his statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
His remarks come ahead of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, set to begin on Monday in Davos, Switzerland.
The forum, taking place from January 20 to 24, 2025, comes at a time of escalating global challenges, including humanitarian, climate, economic, and geopolitical crises. The event will bring together world leaders to explore solutions to these pressing issues and navigate a fair and inclusive energy transition.
The minister noted that Saudi Arabia is working alongside the international community to leverage AI as a key tool for sustainable development and achieving global objectives. He stressed that these efforts aim to improve quality of life, support the digital economy, and create new job opportunities across diverse sectors, contributing to a sustainable and prosperous future for all.
Alswaha explained that the Kingdom’s participation in Davos comes at a time when the world is transitioning from the digital era to the era of intelligence.
The annual meeting provides a global platform to showcase Saudi Arabia’s economic, developmental, and technological achievements under the framework of Vision 2030, a transformation plan supported by the government’s leadership.
The Kingdom will also showcase its efforts through the "Saudi House" initiative, organized by the Ministry of Economy and Planning, with participation from several government entities, including the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Investment. The initiative will host a series of discussion sessions addressing critical trends in social and economic transformation both locally and globally.
