Barq pacts with Alipay+ to explore global payment solutions

Barq partnered with with Alipay+ to explore global payment solutions and support the development of digital payments in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Barq, one of the leading fintech companies in Saudi Arabia, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Alipay+, a global leader in cross-border mobile payments solutions, to explore global payment solutions and establish a formal commitment to future collaboration in the Kingdom.

This partnership, unveiled at LEAP 2025, aims to support the development of digital payments in line with Vision 2030, a recent statement revealed.

The MoU paves the way for Barq to partner with Alipay+ to facilitate travel and shopping experiences of its customers as well as to promote tourism in the Kingdom.

Commenting on the partnership, Faisal Al-khamissi, Chairman of Barq, said: “We are honored to be part of Alipay+'s worldwide expansion, and we hope this significant step will soon provide Barq customers with more solutions and benefits that make their experience faster, easier, more flexible, and secure, aligning with our goal of achieving their satisfaction and meeting their expectations."

For his part, Leiming Chen, Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of Ant International, stated that the partnership with Barq targets fostering innovation and inclusion in Saudi Arabia through cross-border payments and mobile services for inbound and outbound travelers.

Alipay+, Ant International's unified gateway service, partners with over 35 digital wallets and banking applications globally, enabling 1.6 billion user accounts to pay as a local at more than 90 million merchants across 66 markets, as well as providing business owners with a suite of marketing and embedded services.

Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Energy signed a Power Supply and Implementation Agreement with Expo 2030 Riyadh Company, wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), to deliver the power infrastructure required across the Expo 2030 Riyadh site.The agreement was signed by Khalid AlGhamdi, Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Energy, and Talal Al-Marri, Chief Executive Officer of Expo 2030 Riyadh, according to the official statement,The deal aims to establish the electrical infrastructure required to meet the power demands of Expo 2030 Riyadh. This includes the construction of a bulk supply point, three primary substations, and all associated transmission and distribution infrastructure.Leading Saudi companies, including Alfanar, Haif Company, Trading and Development Partnership, and Al-Babtain Power & Telecom Company, will support the execution of these worksAlGhamdi highlighted that the agreement reflects the critical role of Saudi Energy in supporting major national projects by developing a reliable and highly efficient power infrastructure.He emphasized that Saudi Energy will deploy its capabilities and expertise to execute Expo 2030 Riyadh’s electric supply requirements to the highest standards of quality and operational performance, supporting the readiness of this global event and aligning with the Kingdom’s development goals.For his part, Al-Marri said: “The agreement marks another important milestone, reflecting the accelerated progress across the various workstreams underway on site and reinforcing its readiness in line with the established delivery schedule.”He noted that the partnership with leading Saudi national companies reflects confidence in local capabilities and expertise, and their ability to deliver projects of this scale and ambition in line with the highest technical and operational standards. Moreover, the agreement marks a significant step toward securing the critical utility requirements of Expo 2030 Riyadh and enabling the timely development and successful opening of the event.
