The partnership aims to advance scalable carbon capture solutions in Germany

Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Ucaneo secured investment from Aramco Ventures, the venture capital arm of Aramco, following its €6.75 million Seed round announced in September 2024.

According to an official press release, this investment supports Ucaneo’s innovative Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology, designed to help industries manage their CO₂ footprint by removing carbon from the atmosphere. Ucaneo recently launched an industrial pilot capable of capturing 30-50 tons of CO₂ annually—one of the largest DAC pilots in Germany.

With Aramco Ventures’ backing, Ucaneo plans to build Germany’s largest DAC demonstration plant, set for completion in early 2026. The partnership may also lead to future commercial-scale projects.

Florian Tiller, Ucaneo’s co-founder and CEO commented: “We’re excited to have Aramco Ventures on board. Scaling impactful technology like ours requires strong partnerships.”

Ucaneo’s DAC system mimics the lung’s natural CO₂ management, using electricity and a biomimetic solvent to capture carbon efficiently. Designed to integrate with renewable energy sources, it offers a flexible and cost-effective solution.

The upcoming demonstration plant will build on insights from Ucaneo’s pilot and is projected to achieve CO₂ removal costs below €300 per ton, positioning it as a leading solution in carbon capture technology.
