Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Smart Mobility International (SMI), a UAE-based distributor of new energy vehicles, has signed a strategic partnership with Chinese electric vehicle maker IM Motors, marking the brand’s official entry into the Gulf region.
Backed by SAIC Motor, Alibaba Group, and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech, IM Motors will make its regional debut in the UAE, with plans to expand into Saudi Arabia later this year, according to a recent press release.
The signing took place at the opening of IM Motors’ first UAE showroom on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, where the company also unveiled the IM LS7, a fully electric luxury SUV. The LS7 features a smart panoramic cockpit with AI integration and advanced safety and connectivity systems.
Moutaz Louis, CEO of Smart Mobility International, said the company is not just launching a new brand – “We’re shaping a future defined by intelligent mobility, premium performance, and a deep commitment to sustainability”.
The IM LS7 will initially be offered as a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), with a range-extended model to follow. Additional models, including the IM L7 sedan and IM LS6 SUV are set to launch later this year, available in both BEV and Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) variants.
The partnership positions IM Motors as a new player in the GCC’s rapidly evolving premium EV market, bringing a broader range of high-tech, sustainable mobility options to regional consumers.
