Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The total volume of points-of-sale (PoS) sales rose by 12% in May, reaching SAR 59.4 billion compared to SAR 52.2 billion in April. This growth was driven by increases in both the number of transactions and the number of PoS terminals, which recorded 988.8 million and 2.1 million, respectively, in May.
According to the monthly bulletin released by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), the food and beverages (F&B) sector accounted for the largest share of PoS sales at SAR 8.6 billion, followed by the restaurants and cafés sector, which recorded PoS sales of SAR 8.2 billion in May.
Meanwhile, the number of e-commerce transactions made using Mada cards reached 147 million in May, with sales exceeding SAR 27 billion.
The steady growth in PoS sales reflects the dynamic shift in consumer behavior and the growing adoption of digital payment methods in Saudi Arabia. It also indicates a positive outlook for continued growth and innovation in the Kingdom’s payment ecosystem in the coming months.
