Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The point-of-sale (PoS) market in Saudi Arabia is witnessing rapid growth, fueled by the shift from basic terminals to smart, integrated systems and cloud-based SaaS solutions.
According to recent figures from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), PoS transactions surpassed 1.03 trillion in October, with total sales amounting to over SAR 59.8 billion.
SAMA’s monthly bulletin reported that the number of PoS terminals increased slightly to 2.3 million in October, compared to 2.2 million in September.
The food and beverages (F&B) sector captured the largest share of PoS sales at SAR 9.5 billion, through 238 million transactions, followed by the restaurants and cafés sector, which recorded sales worth over SAR 7.3 billion.
Additionally, the number of e-commerce transactions made with Mada cards reached 170.8 million in October, with sales totaling SAR 30.7 billion.
These figures reflect the accelerating digitization of Saudi Arabia's economy, driven by strong consumer adoption of digital payments both in physical stores and online.
