Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Neom Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC) received the first batch of wind turbines at the Port of Neom to be assembled and installed in NGHC’s Wind Garden project in Neom’s Oxagon, a recent statement revealed.
NGHC is expected to receive additional turbines by the end of 2023.
Around 250 turbines will be installed to power the green hydrogen plant via a dedicated electricity transmission grid.
The facility, expected to be completed in 2026, is set to integrate around 4 GW of solar and wind energy to generate up to 600 tons of carbon-free hydrogen daily.
Under an exclusive long-term agreement with Air Products, 100% of the green hydrogen produced from the facility will be available for global export in the form of green ammonia.
David Edmondson, Chief Executive Officer of NGHC, described the new facility as a ‘major milestone’ in the company’s journey to become a leader in green hydrogen and a major step forward in the Kingdom’s energy transition.
Meanwhile, Vishal Wanchoo, Chief Executive Officer of Oxagon, said: “The arrival of the first major equipment for NGHC is a watershed moment for Oxagon as we build an advanced and clean industrial ecosystem; and a major milestone for the Port, as we continue to expand our operational capabilities.”
For his part, Wolfgang Brand, Vice President for NEOM Green Hydrogen Project at Air Products, commented: “As the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner on the project, Air Products continues to make great progress in building NGHC’s large-scale green hydrogen plant, which will deliver clean energy for the world on a massive scale.”
NGHC is a joint venture established by ACWA Power, Air Products, and Neom. It will harness the infinite power of nature to accelerate the energy transition, ushering in a new era of sustainable clean energy.
Moreover, Air Products is a world-leading industrial gas company that focuses on serving energy, environmental, and emerging markets.
