Sharikat Mubasher: Delivery Hero has announced a merger to strengthen its market-leading food delivery businesses – foodora and Yemeksepeti in Europe and Foodpanda business in Asia.
Together, all three businesses will form the second largest organization within Delivery Hero, and be led by Tareq Barto, currently Chief Operating Officer of Talabat at Delivery Hero, according to the company’s recent press release.
The merger is part of the company’s business strategy to maintain profitable growth and expand its market leadership globally.
Delivery Hero stated that the newly formed organization is expected to leverage synergies to accelerate growth and cater to millions of customers associated with Foodora and Yemeksepeti in Europe and Foodpanda in the Asian region.
The three businesses operate on Delivery Hero's Pandora platform technology, and the merger is not anticipated to impact the brands' vendors, customers, or partners.
This move comes as part of the company’s plans to reduce its workforce by fewer than 200 employees as it consolidates.
Delivery Hero pledged to commit to all legal obligations and support employees affected by the merger, which will not influence any other Delivery Hero entities or services.
