Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Arabia continues its impressive progress with another major achievement, ranking first in the World Artificial Intelligence Competition for Youth (WAICY 2024), surpassing 129 countries.
Around 1,298 male and female students from various educational levels represented the Kingdom among 18,000 participants from around the globe, according to the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA).
The Kingdom secured 22 medals and awards at WAICY 2024, followed by the US with 20 awards. India and Greece each earned five awards, while Canada received four awards.
This exceptional achievement underpins Saudi Arabia’s excellence in data and AI fields and reflects its commitment to nurturing a promising generation skilled in AI technologies. It also underscores SDAIA’s efforts to enhance the capabilities of Saudi youth in learning and applying AI technologies to solve real-world problems.
The Saudi students presented 662 innovative projects and competed across four tracks: AI Showcase, AI-Generated Art, AI Large Language Model, and AI-Generated Video.
WAICY 2024 is the world’s largest global competition that gathers young minds from around the world to explore and showcase their talents in AI, offering a truly international platform for students to develop their skills, connect with peers, and contribute to the ever-evolving field of AI.
