Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: French utility company ENGIE is working to expand its presence in the renewable energy market of Saudi Arabia, since it is offering large tenders for wind and solar farms to diversify its energy sources.

François Xavier Boul, Managing Director Renewables MENA at ENGIE, stated that the Gulf region holds vast potential in this sector, as reported by Bloomberg. He emphasized that securing projects in the region is one of Engie’s key strategies to boost growth in the renewable energy field.

Boul revealed that ENGIE is preparing to bid on four solar projects with a total capacity of 3 gigawatts, as well as wind energy projects with a capacity of 1.5 gigawatts, as part of the sixth round of tenders in Saudi Arabia.

Worth noting that the Saudi Al Jouf Cement Company recently signed an agreement with ENGIE to build and operate a 22-megawatt solar power generation plant at its site in the city of Turaif for 25 years.
