Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: BYD Energy Storage, a leading provider of safe, reliable, and innovative energy storage products, signed a contract with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to build the world's largest grid-side energy storage project with a capacity of 12.5GWh.
Combined with the grid-connected 2.6GWh Bisha Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) project, the total collaboration between the two parties now stands at 15.1GWh.
The 12.5GWh of BESS technology from BYD will be installed at five sites across Saudi Arabia, using the company's MC Cube-T ESS product, its latest grid-scale product.
Located in the Asir Province of Saudi Arabia, the Bisha Battery Energy Storage Project can provide the grid with four hours of stable power supply. The MC Cube ESS adopts BYD Energy Storage's globally pioneering Cell to System (CTS) super-integration technology and is equipped with its Blade Battery for energy storage, with a record-breaking Volume Ratio of Cell to System (Vcts) indicator of over 33%.
These installations will integrate into Saudi Arabia’s power grid, playing a pivotal role in addressing challenges posed by the rising number of renewable energy generation systems, ensuring stable power supply, and meeting peak energy demands.
The successful grid connection of the Bisha BESS project marks a significant milestone in BYD Energy Storage's global strategic layout.
