
Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Point of Sale (PoS) systems in Saudi Arabia have evolved significantly, becoming essential tools for modern businesses. They are tailored to meet local needs, including compliance with local regulations, integration with popular payment methods like Mada and digital wallets, and adherence to data security standards.
In January, the number of PoS transactions reached 938.4 million with sales exceeding SAR 58.2 billion, according to recent figures by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).
The Monthly Bulletin revealed that the number of PoS terminals in the Kingdom surged in January to 2 million from 1.98 million in the previous month.
The food and beverages (F&B) and restaurants and cafés sectors captured the largest share of PoS sales in January with SAR 8.76 billion and SAR 8.71 billion, respectively.
Moreover, the number of e-commerce transactions processed through Mada cards hit 111.4 million during the first month of 2025, with sales amounting to over SAR 20.8 billion.
