Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and the UK Government inked a One-Stop Security Agreement in London to streamline airport procedures for transit passengers.
The agreement was signed by Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, GACA President and Rannia Leontaridi, Director General for Aviation, Maritime, and Security at the UK Department for Transport, according to a recent press release.
Under the new arrangement, passengers flying from UK airports and transiting through Saudi Arabia will no longer need to undergo security screening again upon arrival. Saudi airports will recognize security checks conducted at UK departure points, enabling quicker connections and smoother travel while maintaining global aviation safety standards.
GACA described the agreement as a strategic move to enhance passenger experience and improve the operational efficiency of Saudi airports. Mohammed Al-Fawzan, Executive Vice President for Aviation Security at GACA, noted that the agreement demonstrates strong alignment between the two countries' security systems and will reduce wait times and improve coordination through data and best practice sharing.
This initiative forms part of GACA’s broader digital transformation strategy aimed at positioning Saudi Arabia as a global aviation hub under Vision 2030, with airports that offer secure, efficient, and passenger-focused services.
