Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) announced preparations for the International Conference on Data and AI Capacity Building (ICAN 2026), set to take place from 28–29 January 2026 at King Saud University in Riyadh.

The event positions Saudi Arabia to strengthen its role as a global hub for data and artificial intelligence, aligning closely with national digital transformation efforts.

ICAN 2026 is designed as a global meeting point for experts, academics, policymakers, and industry leaders, bringing together more than 50 local and international institutions.

The conference will focus on developing the skills needed for the era of AI-driven economies, highlighting the importance of preparing an “AI-enabled workforce” capable of driving future national competitiveness.

Over two days, the event will explore how data and artificial intelligence can reshape strategic sectors such as education, workforce training, and national development. Discussions will look at the future of capacity-building, the integration of AI into learning systems, and the policies required to ensure that talent development keeps pace with rapid technological change.

ICAN 2026 will also feature an exhibition showcasing the latest AI and data technologies, a series of workshops, and the signing of new partnerships with universities and international technology institutions, further expanding Saudi Arabia’s global collaborations in digital skills development.

SDAIA emphasized that the conference forms part of a wider national effort to build sustainable human capital and accelerate digital transformation across public and private sectors. By convening global leaders and local stakeholders in one platform, ICAN 2026 aims to help the Kingdom develop the talent and tools necessary to thrive in an increasingly data-driven world.
