Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Arabia managed to secure the top global position in the 2025 Digital Readiness Index published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), underscoring a significant leap in the Kingdom’s digital transformation progress.
The Kingdom scored 94 out of 100, placing it in the “very high” category and climbing from fourth place in 2024, when it recorded 90 points. Finland and Germany followed in second and third place with 93 points each, while the United Kingdom, Norway, and France completed the top six.
The index evaluates national readiness for digital systems across 117 indicators spanning nine key pillars, including governance frameworks, regulatory maturity, and technology infrastructure.
Saudi Arabia’s top ranking reflects rapid progress in building an advanced digital ecosystem supported by strong regulatory policies, effective governance, and institutional capabilities. The achievement also aligns with the Kingdom’s broader ambitions to accelerate its transition into a leading digital economy under Vision 2030.
Senior officials noted that the result highlights coordinated efforts across multiple government and regulatory entities to strengthen digital markets, enhance infrastructure efficiency, and promote innovation. It further reinforces Saudi Arabia’s position as a global digital hub and an increasingly attractive destination for investment in technology and innovation.
