Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The Italian construction company Webuild signed a contract worth $4.7 billion with Saudi Arabia’s Neom to implement a unique infrastructure project in the Trojena mountain destination, a recent statement revealed.
As per the agreement, Webuild will establish three dams to form a freshwater lake for the ski resort in addition to the Bow, an architectural structure that will extend the surface of the lake beyond the front of the main dam.
The Bow will include a luxury hotel, a residential area, and a large central atrium with accommodation and hospitality facilities.
Two of the three dams will be made of roller-compacted concrete (RCC) while the third one will be in rock.
The artificial lake will cover an area of 1.5 square kilometers and will have an island for botanical dives and walks, offering clean and serene outdoor mountain living.
Philip Gullett, Executive Director and Region Head of Trojena, said: “The appointment of Webuild S.P.A is a significant milestone in our construction progress. We have already completed around three million cubic meters of excavation at the lake site, and we continue to excavate 90,000 cubic meters of rock per week.”
For his part, Pietro Salini, CEO of Webuild, commented: “The project is set to be an international engineering and construction marvel and we believe our team has the global experience and expertise to deliver this exciting infrastructure project.”
