Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Hydrogen Refueling Solutions (HRS), the European designer and manufacturer of hydrogen refueling stations, has announced the inauguration of the first hydrogen station outside of Europe.
The station is destined for a project developer in Saudi Arabia, the company stated in a press release.
Aiming to serve a fleet of 20 buses and light vehicles, the new site is planned to be implemented starting this July. The project reflects HRS's strategy which targets to penetrate the Gulf area with a main aim to play a major role in this fast-growing market using its technological and industrial expertise to meet the growing needs of players in the GCC region.
"The considerable commercial opportunities in this region mean we can look forward to potential future sales of larger capacity stations to support the deployment of hydrogen mobility, in fostering the energy transition," Hassen Rachedi, CEO and founder of HRS, said.
HRS further noted that the countries of the Middle East have considerable potential for renewable energy production, in both wind and solar power. They are also keen to position themselves as leaders in the energy transition, with a great number of ambitious national development plans. This was evident at the COP28. The Gulf States demonstrated that they are investing massively in the deployment of green hydrogen production infrastructures.
