Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: President of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) Abdullah Al-Ghamdi stated that launching the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) represents a significant achievement for the Kingdom's AI leadership.
During his speech at the Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, Al-Ghamdi said that launching the center aligns with SDAIA’s vision that targets positioning Saudi Arabia as a global leader in ethical AI by fostering research and development in the field, raising awareness of AI ethics, and providing consultative support in AI policies and capacity building.
The official noted that the ICAIRE took steady moves in regional collaboration and capacity building, hosting two sessions on AI governance regarding UNESCO's methodology for ethical readiness for AI.
The two sessions aimed to align with regional ethical practices for AI, foster awareness, achieve dissemination, and unleash the inherent value of AI while ensuring adherence to the correct standards.
The Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence took place from 5 to 6 February with the participation of several distinguished ministers of technology and AI from various countries.
It was organized by the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Slovenia’s Ministry of Digital Transformation in Kranj, under the theme “Changing the Landscape of AI Governance".
