
Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s new world-class airline Riyadh Air celebrated its first anniversary following a year full of several key milestones and significant partnerships as it plans to start operations in 2025.
In a statement, the airline clarified that it dominated industry conversations entering into major partnerships with local and global partners.
Following its inauguration in March 2023, Riyadh Air placed a significant aircraft order of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, driven by its aspiration to become the world’s most forward-thinking carrier, embracing the best sustainability practices
It also signed a deal for 90 GEnx engines to power its Boeing 787 fleet along with being officially welcomed into the global aviation ecosystem with the unique ‘RX’ code
Regarding its significant agreements during the first year, Riyadh Air signed a cooperation agreement with Saudia to foster the Saudi aviation ecosystem, in addition to an agreement with Turkish Airlines that aimed to provide a comprehensive range of benefits for guests traveling between the Kingdom and Türkiye.
Riyadh Air further entered into an innovative partnership with Lucid Motors as part of its commitment to exploring collaboration across marketing, commercial, and operational streams.
In a bid to unlock digital leadership in aviation sustainability, Riyadh Air signed several technology and engineering partnerships with IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, Sabre, Accenture, Lufthansa Systems, Swiss AS, and CAE to offer seamless travel experiences and build technical capabilities to ensure readiness for its first flight in 2025
Commenting on these achievements, Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, said: “2023 was a monumental year for Riyadh Air and we’re immensely proud of the progress we’ve made in the last 12 months as we celebrate our first anniversary, but we’re only just getting started.”
Moreover, Riyadh Air received over one million online applications from more than 100 countries in one year as it continues to build a world-class team, running several recruitment roadshows across London, Paris, Dubai, and Riyadh.
