Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The Saudi Space Agency (SSA) concluded an agreement with the World Economic Forum (WEF) to launch the Center for Space Futures, the first center in the network of Fourth Industrial Revolution Centers that will focus exclusively on space.
The deal was signed on the sidelines of the WEF Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development that took place in Riyadh with the participation of over 1,000 world leaders from all sectors and industries.
Set to open in autumn 2024, the center aims to facilitate public-private discussions on space collaboration, integrate best practices from the Forum and its communities into the global space sector, and generate innovative contributions to accelerate space technologies.
Mohammed Altamimi, CEO of SSA, stated that the center will be committed to fostering a vibrant, prosperous, and sustainable space economy globally.
“By developing principles, expanding knowledge, refining models, and cultivating partnerships, we aim to responsibly harness the vast opportunities of space,” Altamimi added.
The Center for Space Futures will be hosted by SSA and will work alongside the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) to promote Vision 2030.
For his part, Jeremy Jurgens, Managing Director of WEF, said: “The addition of the Centre for Space Futures into the C4IR Network recognizes the importance of addressing various topics such as space technological innovation, policies and regulatory, as well as sustainability.”
