Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority plans to launch self-driving taxis in Riyadh soon

Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s Transport General Authority (TGA) plans to launch self-driving taxis in Riyadh soon, Omaimah Bamasag, Deputy of Transport Enablement at TGA, stated during the AIIT International Conference hosted by the University of Jeddah.

In a panel discussion titled "Smarter cities, smarter services: How artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things are reshaping the future," Bamasag affirmed that this milestone represents a “qualitative step” towards a smart and sustainable future in the transportation sector.

She noted that five cities across Saudi Arabia have been identified as self-driving-friendly, with physical and digital infrastructure, including autonomous trucks, autonomous cars, taxis, and drones.

Bamasag further noted that TGA established the Future Mobility Committee to coordinate and organize efforts, strategies, and projects, and develop a roadmap for mobility in the Kingdom.

The International Conference on Innovation in Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things (AIIT International Conference) gathered a global community of experts, researchers, and industry leaders to explore the limitless potential of artificial intelligence.
