STV launches $100mn AI fund backed by Google

STV launched a $100 million fund, backed by Google, to support early-stage AI startups

Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: STV, the leading growth investor in the tech sector in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, launched a $100 million fund backed by Google to support AI-native startups across the region.

Google’s involvement in the fund represents a transformative step towards enabling early-stage AI startups and accelerates their growth beyond the region, a recent statement revealed.

The AI Fund will focus on investing in ventures that specialize in application-layer AI, localized AI models, and the necessary supporting infrastructure.

Ahmad AlNaimi, General Partner at STV, commented: “By combining our regional expertise with Google’s global AI leadership, we will be able to scale regional startups that can compete on a global level.”

Meanwhile, Najeeb Jarrar, Regional Marketing Director for Google in the Middle East and Africa, affirmed the company’s commitment to providing access to the AI opportunity for everyone. “This includes work like the MENA AI Opportunity Initiative, announced last year, alongside valuable programs such as our flagship Google for Startups programs. Our commitment to the STV AI Fund allows us to continue supporting entrepreneurs who are building the future of AI in the region,” he said.

This collaboration is expected to spark the first of many cohorts of AI-native ventures and pave the way for the region to become a home base for global technology companies.

PIF’s Humain pacts with NVIDIA to support AI development in Kingdom
Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Humain, the new full AI value chain company owned by the Public Investment Forum (PIF), announced its strategic partnership with NVIDIA, the world leader in AI computing infrastructure, to accelerate AI development in Saudi Arabia and the region.Both parties will leverage NVIDIA platforms and expertise to establish Saudi Arabia as a global leader in AI, GPU cloud computing, and digital transformation to drive innovation and growth worldwide, a recent statement revealed.This collaboration was announced by Tareq Amin, CEO of Humain, and Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, on stage at the Saudi-US Investment Forum 2025.Through this partnership, Humain plans to inject a major investment to build AI factories in the Kingdom with a projected capacity of up to 500 megawatts powered by several hundred thousand of NVIDIA’s most advanced GPUs over the next five years.The first phase of deployment will be an 18,000 NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell AI supercomputer with NVIDIA InfiniBand networking.These hyperscale AI data centers will provide a secure foundational infrastructure for training and deploying sovereign AI models at scale, enabling industries across Saudi Arabia and worldwide to accelerate innovation and digital transformation.HUMAIN will deploy the NVIDIA Omniverse™ platform as a multi-tenant system to drive acceleration of the new era of physical AI and robotics through simulation, optimization, and operation of physical environments by new human-AI-led solutions.This will allow industries such as manufacturing, logistics, and energy to create fully integrated digital twins, boosting efficiency, safety, and sustainability while fast-tracking the Kingdom’s journey toward Industry 4.0.Commenting on this partnership, Humain’s Amin said: “Our partnership with NVIDIA is a bold step forward in realizing the Kingdom’s ambitions to lead in AI and advanced digital infrastructure. Together, we are building the capacity, capability, and a new globally enabled community to shape a future powered by intelligent technology and empowered people.”For his part, Huang said: “Together with HUMAIN, we are building AI infrastructure for the people and companies of Saudi Arabia to realize the bold vision of the Kingdom.”To support this transformation, Humain and NVIDIA will collaborate on large-scale upskilling and training initiatives, providing thousands of Saudi citizens and developers with hands-on experience in advanced AI, simulation, robotics and digital twin technologies.

Uber to launch self-driving cars in Saudi Arabia this year
Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Arabia is set to launch autonomous vehicle services through Uber before the end of 2025, following a strategic partnership agreement between the Transport General Authority (TGA) and Uber Technologies. The deal was signed under the patronage of Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and TGA Chairman, during the Saudi-US Investment Forum in Riyadh.The agreement was formalized by  Rumaih Al-Rumaih, TGA acting president and Dara Khosrowshahi, Uber CEO . The initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Vision 2030, aiming to introduce cutting-edge mobility solutions across the country.As part of the first phase, autonomous vehicles will operate with onboard drivers to ensure safety. The TGA and Uber will work alongside technology partners to expand access to these services through Uber’s platform, paving the way for a smarter, more connected transport system. Al-Rumaih highlighted the partnership as a key step in fostering innovation and building a regulatory framework that prioritizes safety and quality. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to high safety standards as Saudi Arabia accelerates efforts to modernize its transport infrastructure and embrace next-generation mobility.Speaking at the Forum in Riyadh, Khosrowshahi stated that autonomous driving technology plays a central role in improving road safety and reducing operational costs, and developments that would enhance both user experience and service efficiency.He also emphasized that Uber’s success in Saudi Arabia is closely tied to the advancement of the country’s public transport infrastructure. Khosrowshahi reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s vision for a modern, sustainable mobility ecosystem in line with Vision 2030.
