Huawei inaugurates Future Skills Center in Riyadh

Saudi Ministry of Communications and Huawei opened the Future Skills Center in Riyadh to empower national talent

Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The Saudi Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Huawei inaugurated the Future Skills Center in Riyadh to empower national talent and advance the Kingdom’s digital transformation agenda.

The opening ceremony was attended by Haytham AlOhali, Vice Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Saleh Al-Qurashi, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for International Cooperation and Partnerships, Liam Zhao, Chairman of the Board for Huawei Saudi Arabia, and other high-profile dignitaries from Saudi Arabia and China, according to a recent press release.

The Future Space Center is an evolution of the ‘Future Space’ exhibition that opened in 2022 by Huawei and in collaboration with the Saudi Space Commission (SSC). Redesigned as a dynamic hub for skill-building, technological exploration, and hands-on innovation, the center offers an immersive learning experience in next-generation technologies, including AI, 5G, and smart applications across various industries and communities.

Commenting on this milestone, AlOhali said: “The Future Skills Center contributes by providing an advanced training environment focused on developing digital skills in modern technologies, keeping pace with the rapid technological advancements and achieving the objectives of Vision 2030.”

Meanwhile, Chang Hua, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Saudi Arabia, affirmed that the new center reflects the shared belief of both countries in the importance of knowledge exchange and capacity building to drive sustainable growth. “China and Saudi Arabia have a rich history of collaboration, and we will continue to partner to build a strong digital future here in Saudi Arabia.”

For his part, Zhao stated that the launch of the Future Skills Center will deepen the company’s commitment to creating more value and accelerating Saudi Arabia’s digital future.

The Future Skills Center will provide training, certifications, and real-world application scenarios that strengthen local capabilities and inspire future innovators, aligning with the Kingdom’s strategy to build a digitally enabled society and develop a competitive knowledge-based economy.

Técnicas Reunidas, Sinopec to design 4 GW green hydrogen plant in Yanbu
Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Spanish engineering company Técnicas Reunidas and China’s energy giant Sinopec won a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for a green hydrogen-to-ammonia plant in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.The FEED contract will span 10 months, after which both companies are expected to offer an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) proposal valued at several billion euros, as reported by Asharq Al Awsat newspaper.Commissioned by ACWA Power, the new plant will feature 4 GW of electrolysis capacity and produce 400,000 tons of green hydrogen annually, which will then be converted into green ammonia for export. It will also include water desalination infrastructure and an export terminal to support global distribution.With plans to start commercial operations by 2030, this project is expected to expand Saudi Arabia’s renewable hydrogen export capacity, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a leading supplier of green ammonia for industrial decarbonization and power generation markets worldwide.
