Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: The London Internet Exchange (LINX) announced the completion of a network upgrade at the interconnection hub it powers in Riyadh for Center3, the STC Group subsidiary driving Saudi Arabia’s data center growth.
According to the company’s press release, the enhancements expand the availability of 100GE ports and introduce 400GE connectivity, a step that marks a milestone in the evolution of Riyadh’s Internet Exchange Point (IXP) since its launch in 2024.
Based at the Remal facility (RDC102), the upgraded hub is set to meet rising demand for high-capacity, low-latency interconnection from global networks and enterprises.
Halil Kama, LINX’s Middle East Director, said the upgrades enable networks to scale efficiently and ensure Riyadh remains at the forefront of regional interconnection. He added that the city is fast becoming a global digital hub and the IXP is now setting new standards for future-ready connectivity.
The move complements Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 digital transformation goals. Center3, which has invested over $3 billion in data center infrastructure with plans for an additional $10 billion, aims to reach 1 gigawatt of capacity by 2030 to support the Kingdom’s expanding digital economy.
