Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Arabia has ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa in the 2025 Government AI Readiness Index issued by Oxford Insights, reinforcing its position as a regional leader in the adoption of artificial intelligence across public sector operations.

The index is considered one of the world’s key references for policymaking and regulatory planning in advanced technologies.

The Kingdom’s performance was driven by progress in AI infrastructure, supported by national platforms and solutions that enhance computing capabilities, develop AI models, strengthen governance frameworks, and accelerate public sector adoption of smart technologies.

 These efforts have enabled Saudi Arabia to advance both regulatory readiness and practical implementation.

According to the index, Saudi Arabia ranked seventh globally in the governance pillar and ninth worldwide in public sector adoption, reflecting its ability to formulate national policies, fast-track the development and deployment of AI systems, and demonstrate flexibility in adopting emerging technologies.

The Government AI Readiness Index assesses 195 countries worldwide based on governance, infrastructure, and institutional capacity, measuring how effectively governments integrate AI into public policy and public services.

Saudi Arabia’s top regional ranking highlights the growing maturity of its national AI ecosystem and its expanding role in promoting responsible and effective use of advanced technologies. The achievement aligns with Vision 2030 objectives to improve quality of life, enhance government efficiency, and deliver more advanced, citizen-focused digital services.
