
Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The third edition of the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) is scheduled to take place on 4 December during the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28).
The SGI Forum will gather policymakers, thought leaders, and climate experts to explore how to address climate challenges and secure a greener future.
It will focus on the most critical sustainability themes from the energy transition and protecting seas, to unlocking climate finance to enable climate action.
In addition, the pillar of the forum program will showcase various sectors being transformed by new thinking and the importance of investment for continued progress.
A panel of Saudi ministers will join the SGI forum, including Adel Al-Jubeir, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bandar Alkhorayef, Minister of Industry and Mining, and Abdelaziz Salman, Minister of Energy, in addition to senior officials from Saudi entities.
Held annually, the SGI Forum is a convening platform for climate leaders to discuss best practices, highlight innovation, evaluate progress against national targets, and drive forward substantive action in the race against climate change.
On the other side, Cop28 takes place from 30 November until 12 December, gathering world leaders, country negotiators, activists, and lobbyists to determine ambition and responsibilities for climate action and to identify and assess climate measures.
