Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air plans to invest more than half $1 billion to expand connections and attract more tourists to Saudi Arabia, Robert Carey, President of Wizz Air, revealed.
Wizz Air operates to seven different destinations from the Kingdom and aims to continue connecting existing destinations and expand further, Carey stated in an interview with Arab News on the sidelines of the Future Aviation Forum 2024 (FAF 2024).
“We’ve invested over half $1 billion into our flying in the Kingdom so far. We’re going to keep growing that. I think we’ve got a lot to do. Just keep connecting the destinations we’ve already got, connect more of those points together,” Carey stated.
He unveiled that Wizz Air is working with Ministers of Tourism and Transport as well as the General Authority of Civil Aviation and the Saudi Tourism Authority on its connectivity program.
“If you look at the airline planning season, we’re just coming up on the period where everybody starts announcing what they’re going to do for this winter, so all I’ll say for right now is stay tuned. There’s more to come,” Carey concluded.
The third edition of FAF 2024 takes place in Riyadh from 20 to 22 May, gathering over 5,000 industry experts and more than 70 presidents of civil aviation authorities and global aviation leaders from around the world.
