Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Mastercard and Google have expanded support for Google Pay in Saudi Arabia, enabling Mastercard cardholders to make payments via the mobile wallet on Android devices. As per a joint press release, Consumers can now complete fast, contactless in-store payments and online purchases with a simple tap or click, providing greater convenience, security, and control over personal finances.
The expansion aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s push for digital transformation, supporting the growth of a secure, cashless economy.
Saud Swar, Mastercard country manager for Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Jordan, said the collaboration is part of the company’s mission to “connect and power an inclusive digital economy, empowering people to manage their finances and complete transactions instantly.”
Dmitry Stiran, Google MENA Payments Strategic Partner Development Lead, added that the move offers “a convenient and secure payment method, enabling instant in-store purchases while supporting the Kingdom’s economic transformation.”
Google Pay leverages NFC technology for contactless payments and tokenization to protect transactions by replacing card details with device-specific tokens and dynamic security codes, ensuring a secure and seamless payment experience both online and in-store.
