Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Point-of-sale (PoS) sales in Saudi Arabia recorded SAR 59.8 billion in February, through 939 million transactions, representing nearly a 6% decline from SAR 63.6 billion in January.

The latest monthly bulletin released by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed that the number of PoS terminals slightly increased to 2.38 million in February from 2.35 million terminals in the previous month.

The food and beverage (F&B) sector accounted for the largest PoS sales at SAR 10.2 billion in February, through 221.9 million transactions, followed by the restaurants and cafés sector, which achieved sales worth SAR 6 billion.

Additionally, the total number of e-commerce transactions made via Mada cards reached 169.6 million, resulting in sales of over SAR 30 billion in February.

These figures reflect the accelerating digitization of Saudi Arabia's economy, driven by high smartphone penetration, strong fintech adoption, and the widespread use of digital payment platforms.
