Dubai – Sharikat Mubasher: Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute (TII) has marked a major milestone in the UAE’s AI ambitions after its advanced cryptographic technologies were acquired by US-based Confidential AI firm OPAQUE for global deployment.
As per a recent press release, the deal will see TII’s innovations—built on advanced techniques such as multi-party computation and fully homomorphic encryption—integrated into OPAQUE’s platform, enabling secure AI model training and deployment without exposing sensitive data. The technologies also include post-quantum protections designed to safeguard systems against future cyber threats.
The acquisition represents the first time cryptographic AI technologies developed in the UAE are being deployed at scale by a US technology company, underscoring the country’s growing role as a producer of foundational AI infrastructure.
TII’s solutions are designed to unlock the use of highly sensitive data across sectors such as healthcare, financial services, and government, where privacy and regulatory compliance remain critical barriers to AI adoption.
The move reflects Abu Dhabi’s broader strategy of investing in advanced research and exporting homegrown technologies globally, positioning the UAE not just as an adopter of AI, but as a developer of the secure systems powering its next phase.
