Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: Amazon Web Services (AWS), the global provider of cloud computing services, announced its plans to launch its first AWS Cloud Infrastructure Region in Saudi Arabia in December 2026, with more than SAR 19.8 billion (approximately $5.3 billion) in planned cloud infrastructure investment.
During LEAP 2026, AWS and HUMAIN expanded their strategic partnership to make up to 50 megawatts of capacity available in the AI Zone by 2028, according to the official statement released by AWS yesterday.
The AI Zone capacity will include AWS’s Trainium chips and the latest NVIDIA AI infrastructure for customers to run AI training and inference workloads. The launch of the AI Zone will expand AWS Global Infrastructure to 40 Regions worldwide.
The new Region will help developers, startups, and enterprises run their applications and serve end users from data centers located in Saudi Arabia.
As part of the expanded partnership between AWS and HUMAIN, HUMAIN’s ALLAM Arabic large language model will be available through Amazon Bedrock, and HUMAIN Fabric, HUMAIN’s AI-native data infrastructure and platform component of the HUMAIN ONE generative AI operating system, will be available via AWS Marketplace.
Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha stated that the launch of AWS’s new Region and its expanded partnership with HUMAIN will help accelerate AI innovation, enable new industries, and advance the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
For his part, Matt Garman, CEO of AWS, commented: “The launch of our new Region and our partnership with HUMAIN will deliver the full-stack cloud and AI infrastructure to help power new industries, create jobs, and accelerate the goals of Vision 2030.”
LEAP2026 takes place from 31 August to 3 September under the theme “Into New Worlds,” bringing together thousands of companies, startups, investors, and technology experts. It is expected to attract more than 1,000 global speakers and experts, 1,800 technology companies, 600 startups, and 1,900 investors and venture capital representatives.
