Doha – Sharikat Mubasher: Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) announced an investment in PsiQuantum as part of a $1 billion funding round that values the quantum computing company at $7 billion.
The financing, led by BlackRock, Temasek, and Baillie Gifford, will support the construction of utility-scale quantum computing sites in Brisbane and Chicago, alongside the deployment of large-scale prototypes and continued development of its quantum photonic chips, as per a recent press release.
The round also welcomed new investors, including Macquarie Capital, Ribbit Capital, NVIDIA’s NVentures, Adage Capital, and Morgan Stanley’s Counterpoint Global, with existing backers such as T. Rowe Price and Third Point Ventures increasing their commitments.
PsiQuantum aims to build the world’s first fault-tolerant quantum computer using a photonic architecture designed to scale to millions of qubits. With its silicon photonic chips already manufactured in a leading U.S. semiconductor line, the company says the new capital will accelerate its push toward commercially useful quantum systems.
