Riyadh - Sharikat Mubasher: The International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage (ALIPH) signed a strategic agreement with the Saudi Ministry of Culture to establish a regional headquarters in Riyadh.

The agreement was signed by Rakan Altouq, Assistant Minister of Culture, and Bariza Khiari, the Chair of the ALIPH Foundation Board, according to a recent official statement.

The Riyadh office, the first outside ALIPH’s central base in Geneva, will play a pivotal role in the Foundation’s efforts to protect and preserve cultural heritage in conflict, post-conflict, and crisis areas.

Altouq emphasized that the agreement reflects the Ministry’s commitment to global cultural collaboration and to the protection and preservation of heritage sites for future generations.

In turn, ALIPH’s Khiari said: “With the steadfast support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since our founding, today the Ministry of Culture strengthens this mission. The opening of our Riyadh office will enhance our ability to act with flexibility and to respond even more swiftly to the needs of our partners in the region.”

The partnership between the Ministry of Culture and ALIPH reinforces Saudi Arabia’s commitment to protecting cultural heritage.

ALIPH Foundation is the main global fund dedicated to protecting cultural heritage in conflict, post-conflict, and crisis areas. It supports the people on the ground who take concrete measures to protect or restore museums, sites, and monuments, and intangible heritage in the most challenging contexts.
