Riyadh – Sharikat Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s National Livestock and Fisheries Development Program (NLFDP)approved launching new business accelerators focused on livestock and biotechnology.
The move aims to support major companies, boost startup growth, and attract direct investment into the sector, as per an announcement on X.com.
The decision came during the board’s 20th meeting, chaired by Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.
The board reviewed plans to localize the production of premium chicken breeds through the “Jodoud Al-Imtiaz” genetics center, fully managed by the national program. The goal is to reduce import reliance and make Saudi Arabia a key exporter of heat-resistant poultry breeds.
Discussions also covered poultry export protocols to China, new regulations for restricted veterinary medicines, and the launch of a centralized platform for vaccine procurement. Plans were endorsed to support private vaccine production and establish a national veterinary vaccine bank.
Other topics included investment in automated slaughterhouses, organic and leather product industries, and the rollout of a poultry disease vaccine project in partnership with global biotech firm Bioaftogen.
