Cairo - Sharikat Mubasher: Egyptian payments infrastructure provider Paymob secured $35 million in a pre-Series C funding round co-led by Mubadala and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with participation from British International Investment (BII), Global Ventures, and DPI Ventures.
The round, which brings Paymob’s total funding to $125 million, will support the company’s expansion across the MENA region by developing its digital payments acceptance business and introducing new products for SME merchants and agentic commerce, the company announced in a press release today.
Islam Shawky, co-founder and CEO of Paymob, stressed that the pre-Series C funding round will help the company accelerate its growth plan across the MENA region and fast-track its product roadmap.
The latest round follows $72 million in Series B funding raised across two rounds: $50 million in 2022 and a $22 million extension round in 2024.
Paymob operates across Egypt, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, serving more than 390,000 merchants. It enables merchants to accept payments and manage their finances through its payment gateway, PoS terminals, SoftPOS, and payment links.
