Cairo – Sharikat Mubasher: BitRoot Ventures, Egypt’s leading pre-seed accelerator fund, plans to invest in 25 companies over the fund’s lifetime, at a rate of around five investments annually, according to General Partner Fady Antaki.
Antaki told Al Mal Newspaper that the fund’s target size and participating investors will be disclosed after its final close.
BitRoot Ventures focuses on startups that have recently graduated from accelerator programs. Its selection process starts with a six-day bootcamp, followed by a three-month accelerator designed to help companies test their products and achieve product-market fit.
At the end of each accelerator cycle, the fund plans to invest in around five startups, providing $100,000 per company in exchange for a stake of up to 12.5%. Startups that achieve further growth and move to subsequent funding rounds could receive an additional investment of up to $150,000.
The fund has received around 150 applications so far, with 26 companies advancing to the next stage. The startups operate across sectors including healthtech, fintech, edtech, and cybersecurity, with AI playing a role across most of the businesses.
The next program is scheduled to begin in November, with investments expected to be completed by the end of February.
